The Wednesday Rant

As regular readers know, Wednesday is slacker day around here. I need a break during the week so I just post 3 or 4 easy posts. Gonna start a new feature called “The Wednesday Rant.” Here’s the first one.

I haven’t addressed the Vikings stadium. So I will now. I’m glad it’s done and passed. We couldn’t afford to lose the Vikings. We lost the Lakers to Los Angeles, the North Stars to Dallas, and most likely had the stadium deal fallen through, the Vikings to Los Angeles.

I’ll give credit where credit is due. Hat’s off to Gov. Mark Dayton for helping push this thing. I have never agreed with anything he’s done, and probably never will again, but on this, I do. Good job, Governor. And a shout out to Morrie Lanning who was pivotal in getting this done.

Let’s be real clear, whoever voted no, basically voted to get rid of the Minnesota Vikings. My opinion is they should be lined up against a brick wall and machine-gunned down.

Look at all the jobs that will be created. A good many of those jobs, after construction, will be full-time permanent jobs. Those that voted no stated in no uncertain terms that they are not interested in creating jobs, and were in favor of reducing the tax base by letting the Vikings relocate.

Speaking of tax revenue. If the legislature had any sense about them, they’d repeal the smoking ban which has proven to be a dumb idea that cost the state millions, if not billions by now. That’s a discussion for another time.

The stadium didn’t have to cost nearly a billion dollars. Thank former Governor Tim Pawlenty for that. He could have signed off on it years ago at a cost of about 425 million, instead, he kicked the can down the road and as a result, the cost increased by 550 million dollars. I warned that was going to happen years ago.

So, state government and the career bureaucrat politicians more than doubled the price of the stadium. They all should be sent packing for that one.

Back then, we had budget surpluses, unemployment was low and jobs were plentiful. The perfect opportunity to build, but no, the chickenshits and dumbasses afraid for their political careers didn’t have the balls to get it done.

Well, no use crying over spilled milk. At least its done now.

And another thing… Speaking of spilled milk…

I was listening to Davis & Emmer yesterday morning and they were talking about raw milk, and a guy who was transporting it who the state is trying to make an example of. Leave it to the f**king state, bunch of assholes.

Anyway, a bunch of busy body nannies minding everyone elses business but their own made some sort of anal law about raw milk, all in the tired old excuse of “public safety.” After all, somebody could get e-coli from raw milk. In the real world, your chances of dying in a car crash are far, far greater, but leave it to the nannies in big government to pass yet another law that is retarded.

Gee, how in the world did civilization ever survive without pasteurized milk?

Here’s the deal. If you’re worried about raw milk… don’t buy it. Problem solved. How hard is that? We don’t need the f**king state meddling around making more goddam ridiculous legislation. F**kin’ A people, start thinking for yourselves you worthless bunch of goddam children. F**k! I’m sick of all this stupid ass bullshit.

And there you have it. The Wednesday Rant has been written.

This says it all about Newt

The elitist establishment GOP just doesn’t get it. They are out to destroy Newt Gingrich as much as Obama and the Democrats. In the establishments funny little world, being moderate is the way to go. Reach out and include Democrats. Yet, election after election and the discontent of the rank and file Republicans prove them wrong and out of touch.

They want someone who can work with Democrats, you know, reach across the aisle in a spirit of bipartisanship. No thanks. Not interested. Why in the world would you consider reaching across the aisle to the very people who are ruining this country and turning it socialist?

Moderate after Moderate equals defeat after defeat. Repeating the same actions while expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Clearly, the establishment is insane.

Mitt Romney. Nope, I’m not supporting him during the primary. Those of us who live in Minnesota only need to know that former Democrat-lite Governor Tim Pawlenty supports Romney. That means we all should run from him.

Then you have Glenn Beck who has an absolute personal hatred of Gingrich, he denies it, but most don’t believe him. He claims Newt is a progressive. Everybody is a progressive that doesn’t think like him. I bet he checks under the bed and the closet before he retires at night to make sure no progressives are hiding. I dunno, he’s gotten quite full of himself lately. I used to like him a lot, now I just roll my eyes and like clockwork, wait for the attacks on Newt, and they always come.

You can always tell an avid Beck listener when they call in to Hannity or Rush. They’re kooks. Just as wacky as the Ron Paul people, but in a different way.

Yo Glenn Beck! I suppose in your world, Nancy Reagan is a progressive too, huh?

Former Fargo Blowhard & Current MSNBC Moron Ed Schultz 3rd Least Influential Person Alive

I told you that guy was nothing but a massive carbon footprint CO2 emitter! The guy’s a schlep and when I worked with him in Fargo he was a schlep then too. I never liked the asshole. Here’s what Mediabistro’s TV Newser had to say:

“The 25 least Influential People Alive” MSNBC’s Ed Schultz comes in at #3. Ouch.

…Then there pundits like Ed Schultz. Do you watch “The Ed Show” on MSNBC? Of course you don’t. No one does. The only reason people watch “The Ed Show” is they’re working out in a hotel gym and they can’t find a staff member to change the channel to ESPN.

So who’s the number one least influential person in America? Well, leave it to a Minnesotan to embarrass us yet again. No, it’s not Al Franken or even that dumbass Ellison. It’s former Governor Tim Pawlenty.

Hey, don’t look at me. I was never on his bandwagon at any time. I trashed him just as much as any leftist blogger from Minnesota. I’m a conservative first, a Republican second who’s not afraid to buck the system and vote third-party if the establishment doesn’t cut it. I do not tow the party line anymore, and haven’t for quite some time.

Back to business after missing the big news

Okay gang, we’re back at it. It sure was nice taking a little break, the last one until September 1st, then it’ll be a two weeker with Apple Fest coming up only two weeks after that. Not much of “The Admiral” during September and early October. Aren’t you the lucky ones!

As we all know a couple of big items occurred over the weekend, it usually does when I’m up north. The first being Michele Bachmann winning the Iowa Straw Poll. Good! I couldn’t be happier for her. I’m glad she won. That was the easy part, now comes the real test when she’ll need strong showings outside of the midwest. Can she do it? Well, that remains to be seen. But it’s going to be much tougher since one of the other big news items occurred while I was away. Texas Gov. Rick Perry is now in the game.

I like Rick Perry. The question now becomes is he another Fred Thompson? I don’t think so. And another question, will he be able to peel away conservatives, mainly Tea Party conservatives (for lack of a better term) from Michele Bachmann? And if he does, and wins the nomination, what do you think of a Perry-Bachmann ticket? I think that would be very likely.

And lastly, ‘ol T-Paw calls it quits and becomes the first casualty of the 2012 race for the White House. That didn’t surprise me at all. He’s a moderate and a professional politician that does things out of political expediency rather than principle. That’s not what we want anymore, and that style of politics has finally gone the way of the dinosaur.

So I guess those are the three big items I missed out on over the weekend, and now you’ve got my two cents worth on them. Now let’s get busy!

Who is more conservative, Bachmann or Pawlenty? It’s getting nasty

There’s a war going on between GOP presidential hopefuls Michele Bachmann and fellow Minnesotan, former Governor Tim Pawlenty.

Answering the question in the title of this post, Michele Bachmann is the conservative, Tim Pawlenty is the RINO. That’s not debatable, and it’s a fight the Pawlenty campaign shouldn’t be getting in to. I don’t think anybody in this state can or will disagree with me. Actions speak louder than words. Bachmann’s record and legislation (both here in MN when she was in the statehouse and as a member of congress) clearly speak for themselves.

What’s the Pawlenty legacy?

  • Health Impact Fee (75 cent tax in a pack of cigarettes)
  •  Statewide Smoking Ban (stripping private business of property rights)
  •  Green Jobz (Spain-like failed green job subsidies)
  •  Cap and Trade (massive green taxation)
  •  Increased subsidies and mandates for ethanol
  • Mandates and subsidies to increase the ethanol content in gasoline
  • Blank checks for “Education” (after campaigning on less money and more reform)
  • Left office with a 6 billion dollar deficit after inheriting a surplus

I dunno. Sounds like a Democrat to me. What do you think? Does anybody believe a conservative would go along with the above examples and sign them in to law? Actions speak louder than words. And those aren’t even all the items on the short list.

I’m not writing this post to attack or hurt the Pawlenty campaign, I’m just telling the truth based on the record, nothing else. You never know, I might have to vote for the guy next year. It is clear, I will be an anti-Obama vote next year.

For the Pawlenty campaign to raise the conservative flag and try to tout themselves as more conservative than a real, Tea Party conservative is a big mistake, and they need to back off that tactic immediately.

A message from Tim Pawlenty

I believe America is exceptional and that our founding truths set us apart in this world.

Unfortunately, President Obama has failed to understand the nature of our role. Now is not the time for America to stand on the sidelines or “lead from behind.” Now is the time for principled leadership that only the United States of America can provide.

That’s why I’m running for president. And that’s why today I laid out my vision for a resolute American foreign policy that will promote American interests overseas and bolster our national security.  American foreign policy is at its best when it is built on the principle vision thatfreedom, human rights, and democracy are the best prospect for peace, prosperity, and security in the world.

Will you join me to stop President Obama’s defeatist attitude and return America back to its rightful leadership role?

Today, your investment of $10, $25, $50, or $100 will ensure I can continue to tell the hard truths and face our challenges with solutions, not rhetoric.  America is in dire need of leadership, not insolvency and it is only with your help we will begin to turn the tide.

Please stand with me in this effort.

Tim Pawlenty

P.S. – There are 3 days until the final financial reporting deadline.  Your investment and commitment will send a clear message to President Obama: failure is not an option for our nation.  Please make a secure online donation through my website: www.TimPawlenty.com and join the thousands of Americans committed to taking our country back.

Pawlenty says, “I flirted with cap and trade.”

Flirted? Surely you jest. I thought we were going to “tell the truth.” And if we are going to be honest and tell the truth, it’s just a wee bit more than “flirting.” So much more in fact, that I used to refer to him as Governor Green Jeans. Let’s be real here. Who hangs out with Will Steger other than climate kooks and environmental zealots? Tim Pawlenty does, or he did, I don’t know if he still does. Let’s just see what the University of Minnesota stated in a release:

On Thursday, February 22 [2008], Governor Tim Pawlenty signed an energy bill that requires Minnesota to obtain twenty-five percent of its energy from renewable sources by the year 2025. Addressing an eager crowd at the University of Minnesota’s Cargill Building for Microbial and Plant Genomics, Pawlenty deemed the bill “one of the most aggressive renewable energy plans in the country.”

In addition to the “twenty-five by ’25” standard, the bill requires Xcel Energy, the largest electricity distributor in the state, to provide thirty percent of its energy from renewable sources. Such renewable alternatives include wind turbines, solar power, and biomass. The new standard complements the ethanol doubling plan set for 2013 (signed in 2005), and the Community–Based Energy Development tariff that aims to support local renewable energy endeavors.

Let’s get in to this just a little further:

The Green Jobs Investment Initiative would:

  • New tax-free incentives through a “Green JOBZ” program that will provide the same tax exemptions found in the state’s JOBZ program to qualifying green job projects.
  • A new Job Growth Investment Tax Credit, 50 percent of which will be targeted to green job projects that will promote the state’s renewable energy goals ($20 million).
  • A new Small Business Investment Tax Credit for investments in qualified Minnesota businesses, 50 percent of which will be targeted to green job projects ($60 million).
  • Incentives to expand the production and infrastructure for biomethane, solar and other renewable energy projects.
  • Creation of a clean and green technology category to the Minnesota Cup competition to reward innovation and spark invention.
  • Tracking energy usage by state government, and holding government accountable for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution.

And his Green JOBZ:

Businesses qualifying for Green JOBZ will be those that support Minnesota’s 25 x ‘25 renewable energy standard by improving energy efficiency and conservation, and by reducing emissions, pollution and greenhouse gases. This may include:

  • Renewable energy creation from a variety of sources
  • Increased transportation fuel-source alternatives
  • Production of green building components
  • Manufacturing of products, services or research that support renewable industries such as wind turbine components, plug-in electric vehicles, and the like

Does this sound like someone who “flirted” with this inefficient, expensive, job killing crap that won’t work? No it doesn’t. It sounds like a climate kook environmental zealot.

This is one of the main items that bothers me about Pawlenty. I know how he talked in the 2002 campaign for governor, and I know how he governed. Say one thing, do the opposite. He did it again in 2006.

This is not a hit piece on Tim Pawlenty. All I’m doing is telling you the truth. He signed this stuff in to law, he had the opportunity to reverse it, but didn’t. And now his position is opposite of his actions as governor? You decide.
