NANNY ALERT: Rocklin Asked To Consider Banning Residents From Smoking Outside Their Own Homes

Busy bodies minding other peoples business, don’t you just love them! All in the name and excuse of “public fill-in-the-blank.”

In Rocklin, California one person complained about his neighbor smoking outside on his own property, now a ban may be considered for outdoor smoking. Excuse me?

First off, there is no way possible for one person smoking outside, at least 50 feet away from others can affect their health.

Secondly, even in an enclosed area such as a bar, no healthy human being has ever died or gotten cancer or other types of ailments from secondhand smoke, that is a fact, contrary to the lies of the prohibitionists that impose their beliefs as your law and are actively pursuing the failure of prohibition on tobacco products, even though they look you in the eyes and lie by saying they are not.

Notice I said healthy in the above paragraph. Secondhand smoke in an enclosed area would indeed affect someone with an extreme case of asthma, a heart condition, or some other extreme chronic respiratory condition, but not a normal, healthy person, yeah, that includes children too.

At the end of the video the anchor raised excellent points when he stated there would be a constitutional-property rights conflict with a ridiculous ban like this proposed by a nosy neighbor.

As far as the Rocklin City Manager is concerned, this proposal is going nowhere. And that’s good news for freedom.

Rocklin City Manager Rick Horst said the city has “no intention of considering the matter.”

NANNY ALERT: Bill would restrict smoking in cars

Take, take, take and take more freedom in the name of public fill-in-the-blank. In this case, “public health and safety.” I’m sick and tired of our freedoms and liberties constantly under assault from the nanny state do-gooders that have nothing better to do than butt in to your life. This latest bit of busy bodies minding your own busness comes from Ohio:

Arguing that a child has no way to escape the harmful effects of secondhand smoke, a Columbus Democrat told a Senate committee yesterday that it’s time for Ohio to ban smoking in vehicles with passengers younger than 6.

“Smoking is especially dangerous in cars because the toxic air is much more concentrated and smoke fumes in vehicles pose a greater risk for children,” said Sen. Charleta B. Tavares, the bill sponsor.

The bill likely will get more hearings, and the committee chairman, Sen. Tom Patton, R-Strongsville, said he supports the idea.

This is absolute bullshit and a lie, and I’ll tell you how I know. Many generations up to about the 1990′s all had at least one parent that smoked, and we all rode in their cars while they lit up, and guess what? None of us had any ill effects, nor did we die off. This is just another attempt at government sticking their noses in places it doesn’t belong.

Butt out. I don’t care if you’re local, state, or federal, butt the fuck out of our lives, we don’t want you in it, we didn’t ask or invite you in, you just took it upon yourselves. Now butt out and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. People can make up their own minds, we don’t need or want you doing it for us. And take your public fill-in-the-blank excuses and shove them up your collective asses.

Freedom progresses in Illinois

Looks as though the tobacco Nazi’s could be on the short end in Illinois. That’s good for freedom, because that’s the issue, not public fill-in-the-blank as all the little Hitler’s contend.

I suspect it’s not moving forward because of some revelation about freedom, private property rights and free choice, but rather about money. Smoking in bars and restaurants means increased revenue, and Illinois has a big deficit.

I suspect the statewide ban here in Minnesota has cost us dearly in the form of a higher deficit. Up to 1,000 plus establishments have closed, that means no tax revenue for the state, lost jobs that were once a source of revenue via the income tax, and business is clearly down due to the ban and that adds to revenue the state does not collect. Not to mention not as many pull tabs sold, etc… If anyone tells you differently, they are lying.

On Tuesday, the House pushed through a bill that would allow smoking in some businesses.

It could make Illinois the first state in the nation to change restrictions on smoking. Read More

Like I’ve said many times, if the smoke bothers you, you don’t need to frequent said establishment, and/or you can build your own smoke-free establishment. That’s how freedom works.
