Feds to Texas: You defunded Planned Parenthood, now we’re defunding you

Obama’s War on Women’s Health.
When the Texas state administration first considered a rule to ban Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers from participating in the Texas’ Women’s Health Program, which is jointly funded by the state of Texas and the federal government, the Obama administration retaliated by threatening to cut funding to the program entirely.

Evangelical Leaders Throw Support Behind Santorum

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has received a powerful shot in the arm as top US evangelical leaders endorsed his White House bid ahead of a crucial South Carolina primary.

The endorsement came after about 150 influential Christian conservative leaders met at a ranch outside of Houston, Texas, in hopes of rallying their forces around one candidate before the January 21 vote in the state where evangelicals and social conservatives make up 60 percent of the Republican electorate.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council and one of the organizers of the meeting, said Santorum, a

Judge Rejects Suit to Add Candidates to Virginia Primary Ballot

(Reuters) – A federal judge in Virginia on Friday refused to order that candidates Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman be added to the ballot in the state’s March 6 Republican presidential primary election after they failed to qualify.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and congressman Ron Paul were the only two candidates to qualify for the primary in Virginia by submitting the 10,000 verifiable signatures by the deadline. Romney is the frontrunner in the race for the Republican nomination to face Democratic President Barack Obama on November 6.

Romney Support in NH Drops, Gingrich and Santorum Fade, Paul and Huntsman Climb

MANCHESTER, N.H.- Mitt Romney’s support has dropped for the fourth day in a row in the Suffolk University daily tracking poll of New Hampshire voters.
Romney had 35 percent, down from 39 percent in Saturday’s poll.
Meanwhile, Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman are seeing gains.

The Texas congressman received 20 percent while Huntsman had 11 percent.
Gingrich had 9 percent and Santorum, who’s been steadily dropping in

Des Moines Register Iowa Poll: Romney Narrowly Leads Paul, Santorum Surges

The Des Moines Register, which is widely considered one of very best indicators of how the results of the Iowa caucuses will turn out, has released their final Republican primary poll.  The race is still up for grabs, with Mitt Romney clinging to a narrow lead over Ron Paul.  Yet, the most compelling storyline of this last weekend before the primary continues to be Rick Santorum, who has gone “all in” in Iowa and surged in the poll. He needs a great result Tuesday to jump-start a campaign that has yet to catch on nationally.

Can Romney Win the South? and Other Questions As the Republican Primary Race Prepares to Go Southern

In heaping scorn on Mitt Romney’s presidential prospects, George F. Will points to Romney’s poor record at winning votes. He points out that Romney has won 5 out of 22 elections in which he has run, making a batting average of .227.

Will could have gone further. He doesn’t mention that Romney has never won a primary in the South where the Republican party is at its strongest, and where the country as a whole is moving. Thanks to shifting demographics, the South recently picked up 7 new electoral delegates. That is good news for Republican candidates come the general election, but first they must survive the South’s primary contests.

Perry Calls out Obama for Reliance on Failed Policies of European Socialism

Answering a question from Bill O’Reilly, Texas Governor Rick Perry created a buzz by responding that President Obama is a socialist, though the GOP candidate was quick to add that the president loves his country and simply doesn’t understand how America’s market-based economy works. If the president understood the private sector, Governor Perry explained, he wouldn’t pursue tax and regulatory policies that crush job-creators and prevent wealth creation.

Finally the “S” word is used!

A great ad by Rick Perry. Finally someone is being honest and a straight shooter and using the word “socialist” to describe Barack Obama. There is no doubt at all Obama is a socialist at the least. It’s as much of a fact as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. Why, the GOP field with the exception of Rick Perry is afraid to call a spade a spade is beyond me.
