Minutes felt like hours for those in Minnesota hoping to hear from loved ones in Japan.

Jiro Takahashi, head chef at Wasabi Restaurant in Minneapolis had a difficult time contacting his family near Tokyo. Thankfully everyone is safe, but his family says the city is in tough shape. There’s little food and ATM machines are down. 

Takahashi says some people stuck in the city are sleeping in subway stations.
