True the Vote issued a press release yesterday detailing preliminary results of their recall analysis. While the unions will likely get the approximately 540,000 petitions they needed to force a recall vote against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, hundreds of thousands of submitted petitions had problems. Guess who makes more on average in Illinois, the public or private sector?

If you said the welfare check recipient with a title, also known as your friendly neighborhood government bureaucrat, you’d be right! They make on average 23% (13,000 dollars) more than the average private sector worker, yet they have the audacity to protest and rally and whine about “fair wages” and no cuts to their more than generous benefits package? They scream about greed which I find hysterical. Obviously they don’t have any use for mirrors.

So here’s the big question. With a big, bloated government bureaucrat earning taking the taxpayers for 69,500 a year compared to 56,500 for the private sector employee, and the private sector pays the public sector’s salary, at some point the math isn’t going to work out. Now what?

Well, if I were a Democrat I’d say, “tax the rich” or “raise taxes” to continue buying the public sector vote. But I’m not a Democrat. What I would do is cut their salaries by 50% and if they don’t like it, they can excercise their freedom to find another job. With the high unemployment rate, there are many people who would be grateful to work for 35k a year. There certainly wouldn’t be any shortages of qualified applicants. Now is the time, not only in Illinois, but nationwide to reset the public employee pay and benefit scale.

Two-Thirds Say Private Sector Employees Work Harder Than Government Workers

Most Americans still believe government workers work less and make more money than those employed by private companies. Yet while the majority also thinks government workers enjoy more job security, they’re less convinced of that than they were a year ago.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that only 11% of Adults think those employed by the government work harder than workers in the private sector. Sixty-six percent (66%) say those employed by private companies work harder. Twenty-three percent (23%) are not sure.

Ohio follows Wisconsin’s lead restricting public sector union collective bargaing privileges

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Legislature voted Wednesday to severely limit the collective bargaining rights of 350,000 public workers, sending a bill that sparked weeks of pro-labor protests to Republican Gov. John Kasich, who is expected to sign it by the end of the week.

The full House had passed the measure on a 53-44 vote Wednesday after it cleared committee, and the Senate followed with a 17-16 vote of approval.

The measure affects safety workers, teachers, nurses and a host of other government personnel. It allows unions to negotiate wages but not health care, sick time or pension benefits. It gets rid of automatic pay increases and replaces them with merit raises or performance pay. Workers would also be banned from striking. Read More
