The Santorum Surge: Two Problems for Conservatives

Rick Santorum’s big bump in the polls this week, particularly in Michigan, where he is now running ahead by a margin of 39%-24% according to one poll, and 33%-27% in another, has to put a scare into the Romney campaign.  But it reveals two basic facts about the campaign – neither one of them good for conservatives.

First, it shows that Romney, who is still the presumptive favorite (Santorum isn’t on the ballot in Indiana or Virginia, and will have a difficult uphill battle in Arizona and Massachusetts and New York), is having serious problems connecting

The Fallacy of Gingrich as Unelectable

As Newt Gingrich’s victory in the South Carolina primary upended all previously held notions surrounding the unfolding GOP primary race, a common and vocal narrative has become increasingly prevalent; namely, that while he excites the Republican base, Gingrich is an unelectable, personally unlikable candidate that will be trounced in the general election.

This notion is utterly false.

While it is certainly accurate that any of the four remaining candidates for the Republican nomination will provide a stark, and compelling, contrast to the failed policies of the Obama administration, it is Newt Gingrich who has of late tapped into a….

Americans pick ‘tea party’ over ‘Occupy’ protesters

From World Net Daily

Registered voters are deeply divided over the “grassroots” movements that have erupted in the United States – the tea party that seeks a return to a more constitutional, limited government and the current “occupy” protesters who demand higher taxes on the “wealthy” for distribution to others.

But a new poll indicates that more Americans by a significant margin believe the tea party will have a bigger and longer impact on the nation.

The poll by public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies. was conducted Dec. 5-7 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.26 percentage points.
“The tea party political movement that sprang up during the two years of the Obama administration is seen in a more positive light than the recently formed left-leaning Occupy Wall Street movement and is more likely to have a long-term impact on the American political landscape,” said an analysis by Fritz Wenzel, chief of Wenzel Strategies.

“Nearly half – 46 percent – said they think the tea party is more likely to have a long-term impact on American politics, compared to 28 percent who said the Occupy Wall Street movement will be the group that will make a lasting mark,” he said.

Election Today: Obama loses in landslide!

And the news just keeps getting better and better! Yeah, it’s a long way off until the election in political terms, but all indications are that things won’t be getting any better and according to the National Journal, that could spell landslide loss for Obama!

President Obama’s job approval rating in the latest national polls has been in the danger zone, ranging from 42 percent (Gallup) to 47 percent (ABC News/Washington Post), with every survey showing him with higher unfavorables than favorables.  Needless to say, it’s not a good place for a president to be, especially since his numbers have worsened over the past two months.

Those polls are even more ominous for the president: In every reputable battleground state poll conducted over the past month, Obama’s support is weak. In most of them, he trails Republican front-runner Mitt Romney.  For all the talk of a closely fought 2012 election, if Obama can’t turn around his fortunes in states such as Michigan and New Hampshire, next year’s presidential election could end up being a GOP landslide. GOP Makes Huge Gains Among White Voters

I can already hear it, and you know what I’m talking about. Before you start, it should be noted that Obama got over 90% of the black vote with the majority of blacks stating the only reason they voted for him was because he is black. So don’t start with the racist bullshit, I won’t tolerate it.

Republicans have made huge gains within the “white community” most notably among the younger voters and the poor, both traditionally Democrat strongholds. What used to be Democrat majorties are now Democrat minorities.

via Pew Research:

As the country enters into the 2012 presidential election cycle, the electorate’s partisan affiliations have shifted significantly since Obama won office nearly three years ago.

**A two-point Republican edge among whites in 2008 (46% to 44%) has widened to a 13-point lead today (52% to 39%).

**A seven-point Democrat advantage among whites younger than age 30 three years ago has turned into an 11-point GOP advantage today.

**A 15-point Democrat advantage among whites earning less than $30,000 annually has swung to a four-point Republican edge today.

I guess the “Hope” is turning to “Nope” and the “Change” has turned to “Spare Change?” And “Transform America” really meant “Socialize America.” Kinda like what I tried telling you before the ’08 Election when you wouldn’t listen to me. Can you hear me now?
