I seriously wonder how we got to the point of funding something that is not part of the government. There should be no funding of Planned Parenthood anymore than there should have been any funding of ACORN. We have no business giving them one thin dime, period. Forget the “taxpayer funding of abortions” with Planned Parenthood, that’s not the point. The point is, it’s just like ACORN in the respect that it is not a part of government and should not be funded via the taxpayer.
Now I know some will talk about the services that Planned Parenthood offers. Some good, quality health services. What about them? What do they have to do with the price of tea in China? That’s a distraction, changing the subject, and a moot issue. Planned Parenthood is not part of the federal government anymore than ACORN was. Planned Parenthood is a non-profit charity, and funding of charities by the federal government is unconstitutional. We went through this last week in a post you can find here.
If Planned Parenthood can’t make it on its own, I guess it just doesn’t. That’s how freedom works. Maybe they need to reorganize in to a for-profit business and see how they do in the free market, just like any other business. Like I said, the government has no business giving them one dime of taxpayer money, period.
As stated earlier, this post has nothing to do with the abortion aspect of what Planned Parenthood is doing. This is about funding a charity, funding something that has nothing to do with the government, a completely separate non-government entity. If you think or feel strongly about Planned Parenthood, put your money where your mouth is, open up your checkbook and make a significant donation. Case closed.
