Obama the spin doctor whines about 4 billion in oil subsidies

Don’t get me wrong on this folks. I’m with Obama on cutting off the subsidies, not because I hate oil like he does, it’s just wrong to subsidize any industry, period. Obama is going to get a lot of the Bolshevik minded people in on this when big oil announces record profits this week. I still want to know why making a profit is a bad thing. I like it. I like it a lot.

It’s funny, Obama doesn’t talk about eliminating subsidies for other energy, why is that? We discussed the subsidy rates in a post located here. If you haven’t done so, read it.

So in real dollars Obama is incensed that big oil received 4 billion dollars in subsidies. He should be just as outraged at the 7.25 billion dollars in subsidies for wind alone. But you never hear a word about that, do you?

So big oil got 4 billion dollars in subsidies for producing 919 billion kilowatt-hours of energy. On the other hand wind received 7.25 billion dollars for producing a mere 31 billion kilowatt-hours of energy. That’s 296 times less power, yet they are subsidized at almost twice as much as oil. How come Obama is not speaking out about that?

“Four billion dollars of your money are going to these companies at a time when they’re making record profits and you’re paying near record prices at the pump,” the president said at a Nevada town hall. “It has to stop.”

Let’s not forget the over 1 billion dollars in stimulus funds paid to Chinese wind turbine manufacturers. You can read about that here, in case you selectively forgot about it. And the almost 600 million dollars in stimulus money for Spanish owned Gamesa Windmills.

Oh yeah, then there’s Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned oil company that Obama just gave 2 plus billion dollars in subsidies to, so that they can drill our oil in the gulf, and we can buy it back from the Brazilians and be their “best customers.”

Have you had enough of this asshat yet? I’ve had more than my fill. I’m tired of the constant hypocrisy.
