One would assume the usual suspects (Democrats, the media & other Leftists) would be demonizing Mitt Romney’s faith, surprisingly that’s not the case so far. It’s people associated with the Rick Perry campaign. Another reason I have soured on the Texas governor and would only support him if he wins the nomination, and that looks more and more challenging each day.
“In my estimation, Mormonism is a cult, and it would give credence to a cult to have a Mormon candidate.”
That’s what a Baptist Minister named Robert Jeffress believes–and his comment is forcing the field of Republican presidential candidates to discuss the subject of religion and, more specifically, the definition of Christianity.
Jeffress, a Rick Perry supporter, made the comments late last week and reiterated them on Sunday. Read the rest
Well Bob… I wouldn’t exactly call Baptists “Christian” in their views, more like a theological dictatorship, much like Islam. In fact, Baptist ideology is closer to Islam than Christianity if you really want to make the comparison.
Can’t use alcohol in any form (that would include medicines), can’t dance, need to be half drowned in some river to be baptized, there is an age restriction to become Baptist, are intolerant and not accepting of gays, supported slavery in the United States which is why after the Civil War the blacks separated from that denomination and the black Baptist churches sprang up. It has falsely claimed Baptists have been around since Christ, when in fact it did not come in to existence until 1609.
It’s also quite sexist. Women are not allowed to be ordained as Article VI of The Baptist Faith and Message clearly states:
While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.
Oh, and there’s more as Article XVII specifically states the womans role is to be the man’s servant. Here, I’ll show you:
A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation.
Sounds a lot like Islam, doesn’t it?
So when Baptist Clerics attack Mormonism and call it a cult, I think it’s only fair that the Baptists come under attack and be forced to justify their existence and their beliefs as well. Bob Jeffress, you need to defend and justify your theocracy called Baptist, come on, we’re all waiting. Answer to what your religion is all about. I’ve stated some items in this post that need to be explained.
Yet as the race for President tightens, a deeper scrutiny of Romney’s religious beliefs has only just begun.
Funny we have to make religion an issue with Romney when it should have been a major issue with Obama. Even God loves the biased and in-the-tank for Obama media that completely ignores the issue.
