The lamestream media is spinning with the word “unexpected” again (Yawn). And they’re also spinning the numbers, blaming the Verizon strike for the rise in jobless benefits. As with all leftists, it’s always one excuse after the other, and it’s always somebody or something else’s fault. You guys are pretty stale.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 417,000, the Labor Department said…
Media/Administration spin:
Striking Verizon workers filed 8,500 claims for jobless benefits last week, after submitting 12,500 applications the previous week, which covered the period for the August nonfarm payrolls survey.
A flaw in the unemployment compensation benefits program just became crystal clear. If you’re striking, you shouldn’t be allowed to collect unemployment. After all, you’re the one that chose not to work. And, all unions have what is called a Strike Fund, where they are supposed to pay striking workers, it’s time big labor ponied up and honored their promises and contracts.
Why should striking workers receive unemployment compensation AND strike fund compensation? There’s a flaw in the system and it needs to be fixed, and the fix is, nobody on strike is eligible for unemployment compensation, period.
QUESTION FROM A MORON: Well, what about the guys that didn’t want to strike, but the union did anyway?
COMMON SENSE ANSWER: You cross the picket line and go to work.
