Salon author oozes admiration for Marxist Wyoming occupiers

A recent column by Salon author about the occupiers in Wyoming and Idaho provides a great example of the left-wing media’s contempt for conservatives and praise for Marxist radicals. In his column entitled “Fear and Occupation in Red America” by Solon contributor Arun Gupta, the author appears pleasingly surprized to find his kind of people in “red America”:

“What we found are cautious movements that emphasize education as well as nonpartisan and even depoliticized approaches so as to take root in inhospitable soils. But we were also pleasantly surprised to find home-grown radicals. Jon Howard calls himself an anarchist. Lindy Murphy, a resident of Laramie and former business owner, said, “I am a socialist.” In Cheyenne, ex-Air Force Capt. Ed Waddell looks like “The Dude” and sounds like a Marxist in presenting a sophisticated analysis of the global economy.”

Gupta even manages to find a “conservative” he claims threatened the President’s life.  Right.

Idaho Governor Signs Order Banning Obamacare!

Now there’s a ban I can live with! Republican Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter has signed an executive order banning Obamacare Socialized Medicine. Three cheers for Gov. Otter!

From LocalNews8.com:

The governor instead issued an executive order to prohibit Idaho agencies from implementing the reform, or assisting the government in carrying out the law, while still allowing the state to continue developing a home-grown health insurance exchange.

“No one has opposed Obamacare more vehemently than me,” Otter said in his letter to Secretary of State Ben Ysursa. “… However, ending Obamacare by whatever means does not alleviate the need for Idaho to develop its own solutions to healthcare issues in our state.”

Idaho bill to limit collective bargaining passes

As Wisconsin politicians stay locked in a stalemate over a proposed law governing public employees’ unions, Idaho’s legislature on Tuesday passed a bill restricting collective bargaining rights for the state’s unionized teachers.

Under the bill, which is expected to be signed into law by the state’s Republican governor, collective bargaining for the state’s 12,000 unionized teachers would be limited to salary and benefits only, and could not be used to negotiate course loads, class sizes and other working conditions.

The legislation, which had already cleared the state Senate in February, passed the Republican-controlled House by a 48-22 vote Tuesday. The measure is part of a broader education reform initiative being spearheaded by Gov. Butch Otter. In Wisconsin and in Indiana — where Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels and the Republican legislature agreed to reconsider their bill after Democrats fled to Illinois in protest — proposed legislation would affect most, if not all, public-sector unions, and not just those representing teachers.

The Idaho bill also ends teacher tenure, limits contracts to one year and ends the “last in, first out” method that most school districts use when determining teacher layoffs. Collective bargaining would be completely banned in any district where the union is unable to prove that at least half the district’s teachers are members. Read More
