Thin and dangerous ice here on the lake. Well gee, that’s a no-brainer if I ever heard one.
According to Lt. Steve Hartig of the Hennepin County Sheriff Water Patrol in Spring Park, “a number of people have gone through the ice this winter.”
If you don’t live here and know the ice and the lake, stay off. It’s dangerous with the warm weather we’ve been having. In fact, I won’t even go out on it now, and I live here.

The 2011 ice-out on Lake Minnetonka was declared at 5:14 am on April 14 by the Freshwater Society.
The ice-out came 12 days later than last year, when the lake became ice-free on April 2.
The latest ice report for the lake was posted around 7:30 this morning on Westonka Informer.
