Cain Suspends Presidential Campaign

via Fox News:

Herman Cain announced Saturday that he is suspending his campaign for president, telling a crowd of supporters in his home state that the allegations of sexual harassment and infidelity had become too big a burden on his family.

His wife Gloria standing by his side in a rare public appearance, Cain decried the sustained accusations as false and declared he is “at peace” with his wife and with himself. But he said the claims have “sidetracked and distracted” from his ability to present a new vision for the country, as well as impacted his ability to raise money.

“I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt caused on me and my family,” Cain said, adding that he reached the decision “with a lot of prayer and soul-searching.”

Cain’s exit leaves a slightly less-crowded race for the Republican nomination, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney currently battling for top position in the polls, and several others trying to break through in the final weeks before the Iowa caucuses.

Cain made the announcement in Atlanta, at an event that was supposed to mark the opening of his Georgia campaign headquarters. While acknowledging that the crowd must be “disappointed,” the businessman-turned-candidate tried to put a positive spin on the decision.

Cain, calling his bid for president “Plan A,” said he’s moving on to “Plan B” — a new website called “cainsolutions.com” through which he said he’d be a “voice for the people.”

“I am not going to be silenced and I am not going away,” Cain said, adding that he would continue to push for his 9-9-9 tax reform plan and would also be making an endorsement in the Republican presidential primary.

Cain counted his unlikely surge in the polls weeks earlier as a victory of sorts, saying he ends the campaign “in the final four.” Cain said he and his supporters were able to prove that “a common man could lead this nation.”

“I’m one of you,” he told the crowd in Georgia.

And he spoke with disdain about the media, the “political elites” and the process of running for president, one he called “a dirty game.”

Cain said he takes “responsibility for the mistakes that I’ve made,” but scolded the media for pursuing what he described as “false and unproved allegations” which created a “cloud of doubt” over him and his family.

“That spin hurts,” Cain said. “It hurts my wife. It hurts my family. It hurts me.”

Cain made the announcement after consulting with his family. If he reached a decision beforehand, he kept his intentions close to the vest. The atmosphere at the campaign event Saturday in Georgia was festive before Cain’s arrival.

The Road in Iowa Just Got Harder for Herman Cain

The Family Leader, a social conservative group, has still yet to back any one candidate in for the Iowa Caucuses.  But, today they have let it be known that Herman Cain will not be getting the nod.  Saying in part he didn’t have the proper qualifications and was lacking:

“clarity on the key issues of life, marriage, foreign policy, and presidential readiness,”
Herman Cain had refused to sign their pledge.  Which early on had included wording about how black children were more likely to born to two parents under slavery then they are today.  That language had

The Obama-Democrat Libelous Smear Machine

When I first heard of these accusations against Herman Cain, my first thought was the Democrat smear machine. That’s what they do. They manufacture issues because they can not run on their records. Lo and behold the picture is becoming clearer.

Herman Cain has spent his life living and working all over the country — Indiana, Georgia, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Washington, D.C. — but never in Chicago.

So it’s curious that all the sexual harassment allegations against Cain emanate from Chicago: home of the Daley machine and Obama consigliere David Axelrod.

Suspicions had already fallen on Sheila O’Grady, who is close with David Axelrod and went straight from being former Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley’s chief of staff to president of the Illinois Restaurant Association (IRA), as being the person who dug up Herman Cain’s personnel records from the National Restaurant Association (NRA).

The Daley-controlled IRA works hand-in-glove with the NRA. And strangely enough, Cain’s short, three-year tenure at the NRA is evidently the only period in his decades-long career during which he’s alleged to have been a sexual predator.

After O’Grady’s name surfaced in connection with the miraculous appearance of Cain’s personnel files from the NRA, she issued a Clintonesque denial of any involvement in producing them — by vigorously denying that she knew Cain when he was at the NRA. (Duh.)

And now, after a week of conservative eye-rolling over unspecified, anonymous accusations against Cain, we’ve suddenly got very specific sexual assault allegations from an all-new accuser out of … Chicago.

Herman Cain has never lived in Chicago. But you know who has? David Axelrod! And guess who lived in Axelrod’s very building? Right again: Cain’s latest accuser, Sharon Bialek.

Bialek’s accusations were certainly specific. But they also demonstrated why anonymous accusations are worthless.

Within 24 hours of Bialek’s press conference, friends and acquaintances of hers stepped forward to say that she’s a “gold-digger,” that she was constantly in financial trouble — having filed for personal bankruptcy twice — and, of course, that she had lived in Axelrod’s apartment building at 505 North Lake Shore Drive, where, she admits, she knew the man The New York Times calls Obama’s “hired muscle.”

Throw in some federal tax evasion, and she’s Obama’s next Cabinet pick.

The reason all this is relevant is that both Axelrod and Daley have a history of smearing political opponents by digging up claims of sexual misconduct against them.

In the real world, two plus two equals four, and the Democrat machine is at it again. Those are two facts of life.

The allegations against Cain smell of the leftist smear machine

So Herman has been accused of “inappropriate behavior” huh? Who gets to define “inappropriate?” The leftist pussies and their allies? Not a word about Barack Obama’s enemies list, cocaine usage, his racist, anti-Semitic church, his blatent disregard for the constitution, in fact, the media never vetted Obama. He was black and progressive and that’s all that mattered. But now they dig up something from 20 years ago that Herman may or may not have said. Note they were words, not actions.

Democrats can’t fathom the thought of a conservative black man. They go out of their way to smear them. What they’ve said about Herman Cain and Clarence Thomas is disgusting and racist. Can you imagine the backlash if a Republican said what they say?

Herman Cain is a viable candidate and a serious threat to the socialist Obama, some polls show Cain beating Obama, and now, all of a sudden, out of the blue from 20 plus years ago, there may be an issue? That’s a little too convenient and fits the MO of Democrats, the propaganda ministry known as the media and Obama.

Notice how the focus has been taken off the failed presidency of Barack Obama and the failed policies of the Democrat majority? Why aren’t we talking about solutions? New idea’s? Instead, the focus is on unproven allegations that Herman Cain may have said something that “offended” a couple of sensitive, politically correct losers. He said, she said in other words. Hearsay in a court of law, which is not admissible.

Now, I’m not at all like the left, which denies and blames, I’m realistic enough to be open-minded about this, and believe that it’s possible Cain may have acted “inappropriately.” The thing is, we don’t know, eventually the truth will come out, until then, knock it off, it’s not news.

The Tolerant Left is at it Again

I give Herman Cain a great deal of credit for putting himself out there in the manner that he has.  He had to know this type of attacks were going to come, and come they have.  Below is audio of an interview that Al Sharpton with his guest Karen Hunter discussing if Mr. Cain is authentically black enough.

It is very sweet of Ms. Hunter to remind Al that Herman thinks he is black.  I would think that all he has to do is look in the mirror for that, but apparently I am wrong.

The 2012 Race, the Origins of Modern Partisanship, and the Resurgence of Local Governance

The past week was very interesting in Presidential politics.  The darlings of the rank and file Republican Party, New Jersey governor Chris Christie and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, have concluded it is not time to run for President. Herman Cain (who was recently labeled a racist by a Democrat strategist on CNN) has become the sweetheart of the white-supremacist, right-wing Tea Party.

Cain Dominates Midwestern Leadership Conference Straw Poll

Herman “Awesome” Cain continues his roll:
Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain rounded out a very good week with a straw poll victory at the Midwest Leadership Conference in Minnesota on Saturday.

Cain pulled off a decisive win, garnering 52.6 percent of the vote and beating Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann in her own backyard. Bachmann took a distant second place with 12.2 percent of the vote, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 11.1 percent. Texas Rep. Ron Paul attracted 10.7 percent of the vote while Texas Gov. Rick Perry got just 4 percent.

Herman Cain ties Romney for lead in new CBS poll

Herman Cain has moved into a tie with Mitt Romney atop the field of Republican presidential candidates, according to a new CBS News poll, while Rick Perry has fallen 11 percentage points in just two weeks.

The poll shows Cain, who stood at just five percent support two weeks ago, now holding 17 percent support among Republican primary voters. That puts the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO into a tie with Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, whose support has essentially held steady over the past two weeks.

Perry, meanwhile, has dropped from 23 percent support to just 12 percent support over the past two weeks, a sign that the Texas governor’s shaky debate performances – in which he has alienated portions of both the Republican base and the party establishment – have taken their toll. Read the rest

Telling it like it is: Herman Cain calls Obama’s rhetoric, “bullshit”

Well, at least somebody has stepped up and said it the way it is. That’s what America is looking for in my opinion. We’re all sick and tired of politispeak. Just tell it like it is, call a spade, a spade, and if some don’t like it, who cares? They aren’t, and never were going to vote for you anyway.

After a few caffeine-heavy refills at our corner table, I asked him about President Obama’s new effort to raise taxes on the wealthy, and Cain just about blew a blood vessel–especially when I mentioned the part where Obama says it’s about “math” not “class warfare.”

“Can I be blunt? That’s a lie,” Cain said, before the sound of his voice began to rise noticeably higher. “You’re not supposed to call the president a liar. Well if you’re not supposed to call the president a liar, he shouldn’t tell a lie. If it’s not class warfare, it’s highway robbery. He wants us to believe it’s not class warfare, oh okay, it’s not class warfare. Pick my pockets, because that’s what he’s doing!”

Cain paused, took a breath and looked at me.

“I’m not mad at you, I just get passionate about this stuff,” he said. “I have to tell people because I get so worked up . . . . I’m listening to all this bullshit that he’s talking about, ‘fairness’ and ‘balanced approach’ to get this economy going.”

As anyone who watched the past couple of debates knows by now, Cain has his own plan that he says would steer the country out of its economic downturn. He calls it the “9-9-9 Plan,” and it would replace the current tax code with three flat, nine-percent federal taxes on income, consumption and business.

“With 9-9-9 guess what? How many loopholes?” he said, tapping his fingers on the table like a drumroll. “None. Everybody gets treated the same. What a novel idea.”
