Remember all that flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene where thousands of Americans lost pretty much everything?
Well, there was a 3.7 billion dollar relief bill on the congressional agenda yesterday to help those folks who really do need it and should be helped, but the Democrats rejected it, and the bill failed to pass.
Yeah, Democrats actually rejected it, not the mean old Republicans, but the Democrats! Aren’t they the one’s that always stand on their soap boxes lecturing everybody else about how the government needs to help people (even the undeserving), consistently hammering away at the myth that they are for the average American, looking out for them by watching their backs, protecting them from the evil Republicans? Why would those caring Democrats do such a thing? Funny you asked, I’ll be glad to tell you!
To help offset spending 3.7 billion dollars that we do not have, the Republicans called for a mere 1.5 billion in cuts to a “green” project. So let’s get this straight. The Democrats are placing a higher value on a “green project” than on human life. American human life. That’s really sick. Here, this comes straight from the AP:
Democrats were opposed because the measure contains $1.5 billion in cuts to a government loan program to help car companies build fuel-efficient vehicles.
What’s wrong with this picture? Didn’t we just bail out the auto companies? And now we are funding them too? Like I said, what’s wrong with this picture?
Once again we have the Democrats and Obama deciding what the market should be with good old Soviet style central planning. If automakers could make money on fuel-efficient cars, they’d be selling a lot of them, but they aren’t. Supply and demand, those aren’t the kind of cars Americans want.
The first thing to notice about the top ten vehicles sold in the U.S. last year was that trucks and SUVs are back. Their sales had previously declined due to high gas prices. Yet, in 2010 the Ford F-Series not only retained its first place finish, but sales increased a whopping 28 percent.
Chevy’s Silverado moved passed the Toyota Camry to take over second place. Silverado truck sales increased by 17 percent.
But that’s not what Comrade O. and the Politburo think you should be driving as evidenced in Barack Obama’s very own words:
“You can’t just make money on SUVs and trucks,” Obama said during a town hall forum in Cannon Falls, Minn.
Well, who gave him that authority? It’s not his call.
And what is it again I keep harping about when it comes to the euphorion green projects? Again, the evidence backs me up. Not one can survive without being propped up by the government in the form of loans, subsidies and mandates, on a level playing field, they fail (and some still do while receiving the handout, ie… Solyndra).
So in summation, the Democrats have placed a greater value on a 1.5 billion dollar, central planning green project that helps fund the auto makers, than on the lives of thousands of regular American’s that need help. That’s the hard, cold truth, and it’s really sick. Who’s in bed with big business and the evil corporations again?
