Santorum Is Absolutely Correct on the Media, Debates

Earlier this week, GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum hit the nail directly on the head when he addressed the disingenuousness of the mainstream media when it comes to the Republican field of candidates vying for the party’s nomination and the entirety of the so-called “debate” process. This may not be earth-shattering news to those who eat, sleep and breathe Conservative politics (or politics in general) but it is newsworthy when a politico actually stands up and presents a challenge to rank-and-file voters to do something about it.

Why Mitt Romney Will Win the Nomination

Rick Santorum is surging in national polling.  As Ed Morrissey notes, in a two-man race, Santorum beats Mitt Romney among Republicans by a sweeping 55% to 34% margin.  In other words, ouch.

But while many pundits suggest that Santorum has a real chance to win the nomination, so long as Newt Gingrich stays in the race, that seems increasingly unlikely.  Romney currently leads the delegate count by a count of 123 to 72; Newt Gingrich has 32 delegates, and Ron Paul has 19.  Santorum isn’t on the ballot in Virginia (49), or more crucially, in Indiana

Even with Good Showings in Missouri and Minnesota, Santorum Surge Still Unlikely

Several sources are predicting a Santorum surge in Missouri and Minnesota tonight, but there’s reason for pause before we order out the “Rick 2012″ bumper stickers. Caucuses depend on two things: money and organization. Santorum has neither. Despite an impressive win in Iowa, it is getting harder and harder for him to keep up, because he is second to last in the delegate count with only eight so far.   That may well change tonight, but here are some reasons to be skeptical of a Santorum win,

GALLUP: Gingrich Erases Romney’s National Lead

via Gallup:

PRINCETON, NJ — Newt Gingrich has all but erased Mitt Romney’s 23-percentage-point lead of a week ago among Republican voters nationally, and the two candidates are now essentially tied, at 29% for Romney and 28% for Gingrich. Ron Paul and Rick Santorum have significantly lower levels of support, at 13% and 11%, respectively.

Romney held a 23-point lead over Gingrich as recently as Jan. 11-15. Thus, in a matter of one week, Republicans who are registered to vote have shifted their support substantially — with Romney dropping 8 points and Gingrich gaining 14 points. The latest Gallup tracking update covers Jan. 18-22, encompassing Gingrich’s come-from-behind 12-point victory over Romney in Saturday’s South Carolina Republican primary. Gingrich began to gain on Romney well before Saturday’s vote, however, most likely reflecting his performance in the two nationally televised debates held in South Carolina last Monday and Thursday.

Newt Gingrich: Obama is “Spectator-in-Chief”

Newt is scoring some high marks with me as of late. It looks as though he’s finally getting back that tenacity, blunt talk common sense last seen in the early ’90′s. Welcome back, Newt. What took you so long?

“Well, I think what is increasingly clear is that we have a spectator-in-chief instead of a commander-in-chief,” Gingrich said on Fox News.

“It is maybe the most passive and out-of-touch presidency in modern American history,” he said, accusing the president of “avoiding his job right now.”

Like I said. Worse than Jimmy Carter.

Other Republicans joined in with criticism of Obama’s performance.

The National Republican Congressional Committee accused Obama of being “all talk, no action” when it comes to cutting spending.

“Actions speak louder than words,” House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said.

“The question is not only what is the president saying, but what is he doing?” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

To answer Mitch McConnell’s question of “what’s he doing?” He (Obama) doesn’t know what he’s doing. That’s painfully obvious.

And this isn’t just Republicans and/or conservatives pointing out Obama’s weak, amateur, 3rd string presidency, it’s the entire world. Ever read media sources outside of the United States? You might want to start. Just last week the British press addressed this very issue, and we posted it.
