Boehner faces ethics dilemma over Bachus investigation

The only way Speaker Boehner can face an “ethics dilemma” is if he is contemplating not doing the right thing, and playing Obama-style politics instead. This is not an ethics dilemma to me, just do the right thing.

An ethics investigation of Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) has put Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) in a politically tricky spot.

Years ago as minority leader, Boehner called on Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) to relinquish his Ways and Means Committee chairmanship during a high-profile ethics investigation.

Now, new allegations of insider trading against Bachus present Boehner with a tough choice: Call for Bachus to step down as chairman of the Financial Services Committee as an ethics panel investigates him, stand by him, or wait until the probe is completed.

Bachus has denied he violated insider-trading laws, an allegation which is being investigated by the House’s Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE).

There lies the “dilemma.” Boehner spouted off about Tax Cheat Charlie Rangel who we all knew was guilty and later proven to be guilty.

It seems pretty simple to me looking at this from the outside. You ask Rep. Bachus to temporarily step down as Chairman and a committee member until the investigation is over and he is found not guilty or guilty. If he’s not guilty, give him back his chairmanship and committee, if he is, censure him.

The reason I say have him at least temporarily step down from his post is pretty simple, Financial Services and this investigation are a conflict of interest. If he were chairman of intelligence or some other committee I would say no, leave him be until or if he’s found guilty.

If congress is concerned about regaining the trust of the American people, now is the time to quit playing Obama style politics and do the right thing. That’s what we, the people are demanding.

Speaker Boehner, right now you have the opportunity to do the right thing. It’s your choice.

Bold Leadership Versus Political Parasites

In response to Peter Schweizer’s shocking revelations in Throw Them all Out, I organized a call for the resignation of our local Congressman, Spencer Bachus. I was in good company, flanked by conservative giants Andrew Breitbart and Stephen K. Bannon, as well as Business Insider and other Tea Party folks who recognize the urgent need to clean our proverbial house before attempting to sell it in 2012. Despite Bachus’s alleged improprieties, I knew my protest would engender some pushback; I was surprised, however, to see the direction from which it came.

Obama says “Ethics” was not his favorite subject in school

I believe this can be be summed up in short order. Yeah Mr. President, we know.

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama told an audience of high school students in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday that he was “not always the very best student” and that ethics “would not have made it on the list” of his favorite subjects.

“I was not always the very best student that I could be when I was in high school, and certainly not when I was in middle school,” Obama said, speaking at Benjamin Banneker Academic High School.

“I did not love every class I took. I wasn’t always paying attention the way I should have,” Obama said. “I remember when I was in 8th grade I had to take a class called ethics. Now, ethics is about right and wrong, but if you’d ask me what my favorite subject was back in 8th grade, it was basketball. I don’t think ethics would have made it on the list.” Read the rest

Basketball, huh? What a perfect set-up, on a silver platter to boot! However, I’m not going to touch it.
