MINNEAPOLIS – Eleanor Mondale, daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale and local media personality, died Sunday at the age of 51. She had been battling brain cancer since 2005.
Mondale started her career at WCCO-TV in the 1980s, and later worked on various cable channels including E! and ESPN, where she covered horse racing.
In 2005 Mondale was diagnosed with brain cancer after a series of seizures. Later in remission, she moved back to Minnesota and co-hosted the “Mondale and Jones” radio program with Susie Jones.
Her cancer returned in 2008 and again in 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Chan Poling, her parents Walter and Joan, and two brothers, former Minnesota Senator Ted Mondale and William Mondale.
