"Man is not free unless government is limited"

Big Brother is reading your email without a warrant

What I find to be troubling is some people are actually okay with this. Another one of those “public fill-in-the-blank” excuses again. Some folks are fine with trading liberty for security and those people deserve neither. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” For example, let’s look at Cherie Anderson from southern California:

Cherie Anderson runs a travel company in southern California, and she’s convinced the federal government is reading her emails. But she’s all right with that.

“I assume it’s part of the Patriot Act and I really don’t mind,” she says. “I figure I’m probably boring them to death.”

People like her are the problem. She appears she doesn’t care about the constitution, particularly the 4th Amendment nor the rule of law. As long as it doesn’t bother her, so what? Well it is a big “so what”. By her ignoring the loss of liberty means we all lose a little liberty, and as John Adams once said, “Liberty once lost, is lost forever.” Like I said, it’s people who think like Cherie Anderson that are the problem and the poster children for what’s wrong with America today.

It’s likely Anderson is not alone in her concerns that the government may be monitoring what Americans say, write, and read. And now there may be even more to worry about: a newly revealed security research project called PRODIGAL — the Proactive Discovery of Insider Threats Using Graph Analysis and Learning — which has been built to scan IMs, texts and emails . . . and can read approximately a quarter billion of them a day.

“Every time someone logs on or off, sends an email or text, touches a file or plugs in a USB key, these records are collected within the organization,” David Bader, a professor at the Georgia Tech School of Computational Science and Engineering and a principal investigator on the project, told FoxNews.com.

PRODIGAL scans those records for behavior — emails to unusual recipients, certain words cropping up, files transferred from unexpected servers — that changes over time as an employee “goes rogue.” The system was developed at Georgia Tech in conjunction with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Army’s secretive research arm that works on everything from flying cars to robotic exoskeletons.

Initially, PRODIGAL will scan only the communications of military volunteers and people who work in federal agencies. But the very existence of such a project is sure to unnerve citizens like Anderson. Is the government reading my emails? Are they already monitoring me?

Some may think, “Well, that’s okay, it’s only military volunteers and government workers…” The problem with that line of thinking goes back to what I said in the beginning of this post, and, aren’t military volunteers and government workers American citizens too? It doesn’t change the fact that government is spying on you without a warrant.

“Some people say it’s one step further toward a police state,” said Anthony Howard, a book author and security expert who has consulted for the Department of Homeland Security.

It is. Period.

Like the TSA, the Department of Homeland Security needs to be eliminated.

Big Sis strikes again!

Here we go again with more nonsense from America’s Heinrich Himmler, head of the Geheime Staatspolizei, oops, I mean Homeland Security. Well, come on now. When you look at her she does resemble a guy more than a gal.

So anyway… This new piece of propaganda is stuffed full of political correctness, freshly shoveled off the manure truck! Terrorists? Why they aren’t Arab/Muslim, nevermind that 98% worldwide are, oh no, on Planet Napolitano they’re white, middle class, main street Americans, and probably all members of the Tea Party too, right Janet?!

Spy on your neighbors and fellow citizens and report them! It’s the new American way! Hey, it’s an Obama World now. Change we can believe in!

Lard Ass’s Sex Trade Website shuttered By Hosting Company

How low and cheesy will the Dept. of Homeland Security go? I think they’ll stoop to any level, after all, it’s a “national security issue.” Since the Obama administration took over, there sure seem to be an awful lot of “national security issues.” That’s the standard excuse for the DHS to butt in to places where it clearly does not belong. When Bush made the mistake of creating DHS, it was never intended to morph in to what it has become, and what it’s desires are. It’s kind of a mini-version of the United Nations, in a way.

DHS’ sex tourism website has been shuttered. How did sex tourism for lack of a better term, become a national security issue? It’s not. But everything to DHS seems to be justified for them to stick their noses in under the guise of “national security.”

MARCH 9–In an aggressive bid to entice prospective “sex tourists,” the Department of Homeland Security last year launched an undercover web site that purported to arrange trips from the U.S. to Canada, where clients could engage in sexual activity with minors, The Smoking Gun has learned.

The “Precious Treasure Holiday Company” web site was active until a few weeks ago when its Massachusetts-based web hosting firm removed the site from its servers, apparently in response to a complaint about its content. Now, visitors to precioustreasureholidaycompany.com are greeted with the message, “This site has been suspended.”

After a year online, the DHS undercover site may have fallen victim to its own sleazy, overt come-on. As seen below, the site’s front page carried three symbols that an FBI intelligence bulletin has identified as being used by pedophiles. Additionally, the site’s acronym, PTHC, is an allusion to “preteen hardcore” pornography. The site’s carefully misspelled motto–“We Help Make Your Fantasy’s Come True!”–also does little to mask its illicit intentions.

An account executive with the hosting firm, who appeared unaware that “Precious Treasure Holiday Company” was a government operation, said that following a site’s suspension an internal investigation is launched. Upon the review’s completion, a site is either reinstated or ruminated. The executive, Jason Crawford, added that if a customer’s site is found to contain illicit material like child pornography, the FBI is contacted.

So, DHS does as it pleases without obtaining warrants or even probable cause, they use a business without obtaining permission to entrap people. How many constitutional violations do you suppose they committed in this ridiculousness? Were Canadian authorities even aware of this? My money says, “no.”

Look, I’m not advocating the sex trades in any way, shape, or form. I am advocating for the elimination of the Dept. of Homeland Security. It’s turning in to Frankenstein’s monster.
