Libraries throughout Hennepin County are getting new phone numbers.

Starting April first, all 41 libraries in the Hennepin County Library system will have phone numbers with 612 area codes.

Hennepin County and Minneapolis merged their library sytems a few years ago. Some libraries still had phone numbers with 952 area codes.

A spokeswoman for the Hennepin County Libraries says switching to a single phone system will save the libraries more than $36,000 a year.

All 952 numbers will be phased out by 2012.
