Chanhassen Residents Want Answers After Sewage Floods Homes

The homeowners did not like what they heard from the Chanhassen City Council and Mayor Tom Furlong. Last month, homes in the Chanhassen Hills neighborhood were flooded when a city water line broke and then backed up a city sewer line. The sewage caused thousands of dollars in damage to each of those homes. Angry residents went to the Chanhassen City Council monthly meeting looking for relief and did not get the answer for which they were looking.

The city told them its insurance was not going to cover their claims, because the pipe’s rupture was an act of God. There is a glimmer of hope for the homeowners. The city manager told them its insurance company has agreed to take a second look at the damage, but the homeowners were not given a definitive date as to when they will get a final answer.

Timberwolves Shop Their Stadium Plan

nullThe Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team has a plan to renovate Target Center and get a new Vikings stadium built, too.

Minnesota Public Radio reports that Timberwolves executives were circulating the plan with lawmakers last week.

The Timberwolves plan includes a new regional sports authority that would acquire current facilities and build two new ones. The costs are estimated at $1.73 billion, paid for with bonds issued by the Metropolitan Council. Some of that cost includes debt that is already outstanding on other facilities.

The Timberwolves and the city of Minneapolis have been seeking a $155 million upgrade to Target Center.
