Is it global warming yet?

Snow throughout Montana, the Dakota’s, northern Minnesota, northern Wisconsin and the U.P. is not uncommon this early in the year. But snow forecast all the way south in to Texas? That’s uncommon this early. Obviously we can scratch the mythical global warming off the list, but… does this prove “climate change?” Only if you believe fairies ride unicorns through rainbows and sprinkle pixie dust on the planet. It’s just the weather. Nothing more, nothing less.

A winter wonderland has unfolded across northeastern Colorado and neighboring southeastern Wyoming.

The snow commenced in Denver and Cheyenne, Wyo., late Tuesday and will continue through today.

The AccuWeather.com Winter Weather Center is expecting a total of 3 to 6 inches in Denver with closer to 10 inches toward the foothills….

As today progresses, temperatures will hold steady around 30 degrees or will even fall a few degrees.

“Untreated roads that were originally wet will become slushy and slippery. The first places to become slick will be bridges, overpasses and roads through the mountains,” stated AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.

Flight delays are likely to develop at Denver’s International Airport with ripple effects across the country.

Another danger is the fact that the snow will be heavy and wet in nature, clinging to and weighing down tree branches and power lines. Trees across the Denver area still full of foliage.

Power outages may result, as well as damage or bodily harm as tree limbs fall.

Multiple tree branches are down and the power is out north of Denver in Fort Collins after around 6 inches of snow fell.

Considerable tree damage is being reported near Greeley, Colo., due to 10.3 inches of wet snow.

Travel disruptions and potential tree damage will follow the snow as it spreads southward across the Interstate 25 corridor into northeastern New Mexico through tonight.

Cities in line to experience a changeover from rain to wet snow include Pueblo and Trinidad, Colo., and Las Vegas, N.M. The eastern extent of the snow will even lightly coat Dalhart, Texas, late tonight. Read the rest
