The City of Tonka Bay is getting ready for boating season and making progress on some new docks for boats. The City sent out pictures of what the project looks like now. They say it should be ready for use by the time the 2011 boating season gets started this Spring.
The project adds 12 new slips to Tonka Bay’s Municipal Docks. The new slips are located between the docks and the fishing pier on Lake Minnetonka. The plan to build the docks was approved at the January 25 City of Tonka Bay Council Meeting. Council members agreed to hire the company, Minnetonka Portable Dredging to build the docks for $49,400. The contractors worked during the winter to install piling while there was still plenty of ice on the lake. Some of the other dock work will be completed when the weather warms up.
