Warmer days and cool nights will likely rupture local roads, creating a bumper crop of potholes. The city of Minneapolis says its crews are doing what they can to keep up, prioritizing busy roads to get greater attention.
Motorists are quick to comment on road conditions, Matthew Smith worries his car will take a beating, “Bumps and potholes, it’s tearing my car up right now. It has torn it up.”
Jennifer Barker makes deliveries for Meals-On-Wheels, she says she’s seen crews patching potholes, but has also seen those same potholes re-appear, “I think patching it isn’t going to fix it completely. From my experience, each week they get patched up and the next week there are more and more. It seems to be that it is going to need more than just patchwork.”
Steve Kotke is the Director of Public Works for the City of Minneapolis. He says in the next few weeks, with warmer temperatures, crews will be able to switch to a more permanent patching material. In the meantime, the city invites anyone who spots a monster pothole to call its 311 information line and make a report.
