Firefighters in Savage are on the scene of a small bathroom fire at an elementary school.

Firefighters remain on scene at Harriet Bishop Elementary School on the 14,000 block of O’connell Road.

Ruth Dunn of the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District tells KSTP.com the fire started in one of the bathrooms of the school.

Dunn says the district had school busses take students and staff to a nearby fire station.

According to the District 191 website, parents can now pick up their students at the fire station across the street from the school.

The district says firefighters will lower the temperature of the building to remove the smoke.

The district alerted parents by phone of the fire.

It’s unclear how the fire started.
