Take, take, take and take more freedom in the name of public fill-in-the-blank. In this case, “public health and safety.” I’m sick and tired of our freedoms and liberties constantly under assault from the nanny state do-gooders that have nothing better to do than butt in to your life. This latest bit of busy bodies minding your own busness comes from Ohio:
Arguing that a child has no way to escape the harmful effects of secondhand smoke, a Columbus Democrat told a Senate committee yesterday that it’s time for Ohio to ban smoking in vehicles with passengers younger than 6.
“Smoking is especially dangerous in cars because the toxic air is much more concentrated and smoke fumes in vehicles pose a greater risk for children,” said Sen. Charleta B. Tavares, the bill sponsor.
The bill likely will get more hearings, and the committee chairman, Sen. Tom Patton, R-Strongsville, said he supports the idea.
This is absolute bullshit and a lie, and I’ll tell you how I know. Many generations up to about the 1990′s all had at least one parent that smoked, and we all rode in their cars while they lit up, and guess what? None of us had any ill effects, nor did we die off. This is just another attempt at government sticking their noses in places it doesn’t belong.
Butt out. I don’t care if you’re local, state, or federal, butt the fuck out of our lives, we don’t want you in it, we didn’t ask or invite you in, you just took it upon yourselves. Now butt out and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. People can make up their own minds, we don’t need or want you doing it for us. And take your public fill-in-the-blank excuses and shove them up your collective asses.
